Reading Time: 1 minute The nearest airport to Kavala is “Megas Alexandros ” airport and it’s located 30 km East of Kavala. The next big commercial airport is “Macedonia” in Thessaloniki and its 170 km away (2 hours drive with car). There is also “Dimokritos” airport in Alexandroupoli 150km away (1.5 hours drive).
In the above infographic, you can see that there are three big commercial airports in the area that can get you near Kavala for approximately (30 min – 2 Hours driving) depending on what you will use.
If you are not planning to rent a car then the best decision in terms of time is Kavala’s airport , especially if you are visiting Thassos in which the only thing you have to do is take a taxi to Keramoti ( 10km) and take the next ferry.
But, if you are planning to rent a car , which is highly suggested then you should also check tickets from both airports of Thessaloniki and Alexandroupoli, you may find a great deal especially on summer season and you may also rent your car cheaper.
