a walk through the Cave of Alistrati

Cave of Alistrati is a visitable cave of Serres district and is 55 minutes northwest of Kavala. The cave belongs to the network of caves of the Aggitis river canyon and is considered as one of the most magnificent caves not only in Greece, but also in Europe. The visitor will walk through a rich stalagmite and stalactite decoration characterized by a diversity of colors. What makes this cave unique, in Greece, is the large variety of eccentrities. The cave’s surface is measured 25,000 m2 and the total length of its passages is approximately 3 km, of which 1 km is accessible by the disabled. The entrance of the visitors is made through an artificial tunnel.
